Is it a long demo? Or was I having so much fun that I played it more than once? Honestly, it was the latter. I looked at the video and the end time was around one hour and forty-two minutes. The electronic music goes perfectly with this game, which I have no doubt. It looks like a PS1 game, which is never a bad thing, and it hits all the right marks with its visuals. The city has really gone to shit with trash, blood, and remnants of old technology lying around everywhere. Turbo Overkill is a gritty-looking game, and it works out great. Augments are, simply stating, upgrades to your overall character, like the recharge rate of your chainsaw leg. Money is required to purchase items and the only way to get money is to kill the bad guy. jumping from boat to boat with a shotgun, just blowing baddies away was a very pivotal moment for me.Įach level has loads of secrets to find, weapons, and augments to purchase through simple vending machines. For instance, I was hopping across some boats to get to a key and when I returned, the boats and the opposite dock were brimming with enemies. Lots of really fun action moments take place within the game. I didn’t look to see if there was a map, I just went and if I found bad guys to shoot, I figured I was going in the correct direction, which I was. Levels are really intricate and are reminiscence of the games above with a cyberpunk coat of paint. I shot double magnums, a shotgun, some uzis, killed some people with my chainsaw leg and even wall ran into a group of enemies and just eviscerated them. If you have ever played Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem, or any of those other games, then you will feel right at home with this fucking game. The gameplay consists of going really fast, shooting bad guys, and splattering the screen with so much blood that it is almost impossible to see. This week is a game that resembles a faster-paced ps1 looking version of Doom with added chainsaw leg technology, this week is Turbo Overkill. I made time to play this demo a few times and I’m glad that I had. All that I have to tell you is that this game is something special. I saw this game on the front page of Steam’s Nextfest demos.
